Summary Description

The Helpdesk Imaging Support Specialist performs and maintains a variety of duties consistent with the efficient workflow of a Radiologist and is responsible for telephone and technological communication and triage between the general public, patients, physicians and staff. Works closely to assist the radiologists in the effective interpretation of exams by checking in, organizing and preparing radiological exam images from outside clinics, ensuring all required patient information is present and accurate.

Essential Functions

  • Receives and prepares all filmless exams and medical reports, ensuring all patient information from outside clinics is present and accurate.
  • Handles all patient records with confidentiality and HIPAA compliance is adhered to at all times.
  • Triages IT issues for radiologists, solves issues within scope or forwards to IT for resolution.
  • Contacts multiple facilities to locate and request previous exams.
  • May prepare and send STAT reports to corresponding health care providers/call with impression.
  • Collates paperwork for all exams and uploads to billing.
  • Performs telephone operator skills in a professional manner, demonstrating the highest level of customer service; receives and manages incoming calls to MRG ISC, transfer calls to appropriate radiologists and staff as needed.
  • Supplies information to callers and relays telephone messages.
  • Notifies IT of telephone system problems.
  • Manages the company’s lobby area, greets and directs all visitors in a professional manner.
  • Accepts patient payments, documents receipt and prepares to forward to proper entity.
  • Sends attorney requests for medical records to proper entities.
  • Operates basic office equipment, sorts and routes incoming materials.
  • Performs general administrative duties and may also assist other administrative staff with overflow work, special projects, data entry and internet search tasks.
  • Performs other related duties as required.



  • AA Degree (Information Technology or technical program preferred)
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.


  • 1 year in a medical setting with knowledge of medical terminology, physician support and technology support preferred.
  • Experience in diagnostic imaging related field preferred.

  • Able to work with minimal supervision, problem solve and attention to detail.
  • Work and communicate professionally and effectively with physicians, patients, co-workers, technicians and outside facilities.
  • Able to work in fast paced environment and maintain workflow.
  • Multi-task and monitor multiple systems concurrently with accuracy.
  • Technical aptitude, working knowledge of computer functions, hardware and software.
  • Experience with medical information systems and voice recognition applications preferred.
