HistoryDr. Earl L. Lawson, founder of The Medford Radiological Group, PC opened his practice in 1948. A decade later, MRG moved to 842 E. Main Street, directly across from Community Hospital, which was Medford’s only medical care facility at that time. Though Community Hospital has long since closed its doors, MRG’s business office still remains at the same location. Our growing team of radiologists now serves the many healthcare and imaging facilities that have been established since then. Today, our radiologists provide diagnostic services to all of the local hospitals and clinics. We also provide diagnostic and interventional services to the Rogue Valley Medical Center (RVMC), Providence Medford Medical Center (PMMC), and Ashland Community Hospital (ACH). MRG continues evolving to meet the needs of growing Rogue Valley communities. In recent years, MRG has joined forces with RVMC and PMMC to form Oregon Advanced Imaging (OAI), a free-standing MRI and PET/CT imaging center. MRG has also partnered with ACH, RVMC, and the former Ashland Radiology Group to develop Siskiyou Imaging, a free-standing MRI center on the campus of ACH. Both of these centers offer medical supervision and diagnostic services, and OAI in Medford even offers a number of interventional MRI procedures such as breast biopsy with MRI-guidance. All MRG’s radiologists are certified by the American College of Radiology and many are fellowship trained, having received certificates in various subspecialties of radiology. The level of sophistication and complexity in medical imaging is growing; therefore our radiologists work to stay current with new advancements in technology and care. Of the more recent innovations, RVMC and PMMC are both in the process of converting to “film-less” radiology, which will enable all records and images to be both stored and interpreted electronically. This is a quantum leap forward in comparison to the origins of MRG in 1948.
